When your Web Host support fails.
My blog is running WordPress 3.1 and there is a new version 3.2.1 which requires MySQL version 5 my web host is still running MySQL 4.1 and extended support ended Dec 31, 2009 so why is my host still using it. I send a message to support about MySQL 5. They replied that they cannot reveal when new products will be available. I sent another messages. The response was: sure our new servers run MySQL 5. What is the correct answer? Of course the online support does not let you respond and instantly closes the support case. Their support obviously runs on a metric of closed cases per day. I have sent one more message, to ask to have my hosting be moved to a server with MySQL 5, the response will determine whether I stay at my current web host. So far it is not looking good. Wait the potential new web host is cheaper, and they have intelligent online support chat! Looking even worse for my current provider.
